BT tops Israel Bonds High Holy Day Appeal in Baltimore and beyond

When it comes to Israel there is no question that Beth Tfiloh Congregation has earned a reputation as one of the most passionately Zionistic and supportive synagogues. Anywhere. And so it will come as no surprise that for the 2015 High Holy Day Israel Bonds Appeal, the members of Beth Tfiloh Congregation purchased not only the most Israel bonds of any synagogue in the Baltimore metro area, but the most bonds of any congregation in the U.S.

Alan Dorenfeld, Executive Director of the State of Maryland Israel Bonds office agrees that Beth Tfiloh has had a tremendous impact on the success of Israel Bonds in the Baltimore area, which yielded the highest High Holy Day Appeal of any region in the country, both in the number of cards returned and the dollar value of bonds purchased. “Beth Tfiloh leads our community in High Holy Day responsiveness. There is no question,” says Alan. He pointed out that the $3.4 million in Israel Bonds purchased by Beth Tfiloh members this fall (breaking all previous records set by Beth Tfiloh) comprises 30 percent of the $11 million from tab cards in the region consisting of 26 synagogues.

Many believe that Beth Tfiloh’s exemplary support for Israel Bonds and other Israel causes stems from its strong rabbinic leadership from Rabbi Mitchell Wohlberg over the past 38 years. Others will credit the many Beth Tfiloh members who have taken a leadership position in Israel Bonds.

Every one of Beth Tfiloh’s 874 bond purchasers should take great pride in the impact they are making by investing in our Jewish homeland through Israel Bonds.
