Varsity Swim Team Members Set Personal Records at Championships
The Beth Tfiloh Girls Varsity Swim Team took fourth place out of six teams at this year’s IAAM C Conference Championships. The team had a winning season this year with only one loss in the regular season, winning against four other schools! All of the girls swam a great meet for Championships, with many swimmers dropping time in their individual races.
Olivia P. ‘18 had a nail biting race in the 50 free style, coming in second place by just .2 seconds--an exciting race to watch! Sophie B. ’17 dropped six seconds off her best 100 yard free style time. Abigail B. ’16 and Meira K. ’19 placed third and fourth in the 500 yard freestyle out of 16 swimmers, both dropping time and swimming their best race of the season. Our final relay of the meet (Abigail B. ’16, Melanie B. ’17, Meira K. ‘19 and Olivia P. ‘18) placed second in an exciting race by just two seconds, dropping a whopping 17 seconds off of their best time for the season. All of the girls had an amazing season this year and we could not have done it without each and every one of them.
The Beth Tfiloh Boys Varsity Swim Team took sixth place out of nine teams at this year’s MIAA B Conference Championships. The team swam very fast, as almost everyone beat their best time in at least one event. Senior Nolan P. ‘16 led the team, placing first in both the 200 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Freshman Jack L. ‘19 had an incredible race in his 200 I.M., dropping 9 seconds off his best time to take first in his heat. Jordan K. ‘18 brought his A game in the 500 freestyle and beat his best time by 4 seconds. Freshmen Jacob B. ‘19 and Menachem P. ‘19 raced to the wall in the 100 freestyle to take first and second in their heat as they shattered their previous best times. Last, but certainly not least, freshman Evyatar S. ‘19 had the swim of a lifetime in his 100 breaststroke and dropped a whopping 29 seconds! All in all it was a fantastic meet despite missing two key swimmers.
