Morah Brenda's 3's Class Enjoys Hebrew Story Time with 11th Graders

Morah Katz’s 11th grade Hebrew class paired up with Morah Brenda’s 3’s to read The Lion that Loved Strawberries ("HaAryeh She'Ahav Tut"), a Hebrew book that the younger students have been reading throughout the year in class. This one-on-one attention allowed for more in-depth learning and discussion for the PreSchool students, as Morah Brenda explains: “Each child had individual attention with the ‘big’ kids who read from our own copies of the book,” after which each pair colored their copy and then discussed their most and least favorite foods. “Connecting the grades together through our mutual love of Hebrew proved to be a success on both ends. We were a little disappointed when our time together came to an end!”

For the High School students, this was more than just a fun change of scenery—this was learning in action. “I wanted the High School students to practice the Hebrew they are learning,” explains Morah Katz. “This joint program gave them a chance to bring their Hebrew to life and use it in a practical way, combined with a beautiful connection between the High School and PreSchool students! It was a great way for all the students to spend time together while connecting through the Hebrew language.”
