Lower School Recreates the Holy Land at Israel Fair

Last week’s Israel celebrations continue with the Lower School Israel Fair. Students in each grade collaborated on a variety of creative presentations to bring the history and culture of Israel to life, right in their hallway!

First grade created an interactive map of Israel, with QR codes that scan to videos of robots Poe and Dash describing how Yom HaAtzma'ut is celebrated in each of the featured cities. Their displays also explained the symbols and emblems of Israel, as well as Hatikvah, comparing both to American symbols and national anthem.

Second grade students wrote about what they would do if they lived in Israel. They also created a Bedouin tent, displays about the Negev--which they are learning about in Chumash, Ben Gurion and Baltimore’s sister city, Ashkelon.

Third grade recreated the gates of Yerushalayim, as well as depicting Israeli communities, which they studied in Social Studies. As part of their study of cartography, fourth grade created a map of Israel, as well as a display about Hertzl and holy cities in Israel.

Come see this amazing exhibit for yourself anytime this week! Just sign-in at the LS office and we will direct you to the fair.
