Senior Internship Field Report: BT Edition

By Jenny R. '14, Communications Intern
The six seniors who chose to stay close-to-home and give back to BT during their internships share their experiences on the job.

Shayna M. ‘14
, Creative Arts Department
“I've been learning so much about all of the little things the arts department does for the student body. When you're a student, you don't see all of the hard work that goes on behind the scenes, but as an intern I do. Something that students only see as a seemingly effortless finished product actually takes hours of hard work to organize. It makes me appreciate everything I had as a student so much more.”

Sara Beth A. ‘14 and Mollye K. ‘14, PreSchool

“So far, working at the BT PreSchool has been such a great experience. Not only are the kids adorable, but we have also been learning so much about early childhood education. Everyday brings new situations to handle and we are learning so quickly. The best part is leaving at 3:45 with smiles on our faces from being with 4 and 5 year olds all day.”

Josh S. ‘14 and Kevin R. ‘14, Computer Science Lab

“We have been working under the supervision of Mr. Allulis, programming games for our phones. Josh is coding an interactive story for the iPhone. Kevin is developing a game for Android. We have both  learned a lot about how to design and code apps for our respective phones.”

Jenny R. ‘14, Communications Department

“There is a lot that I do around here in Communications. I take pictures of the student body for different events, I write articles about the different things happening at BT, I edit content for the website, and I attend meetings on how to improve the school’s communication with the community. I’ve learned a lot about managing a website, photography, writing, and computers. It’s been a great experience and I’m so fortunate to have had this opportunity.”
