Meet Mrs. Melanie Wolf!

Mrs. Melanie Wolf is the newest addition to the 3rd grade’s dynamic teaching team. Ms. Wolf, who has taught early elementary grades for 14 years in the New Jersey school system and more recently at an independent school in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, says, “I am thrilled to be a part of the Beth Tfiloh family!”

“My background has focused on teaching reading skills and helping students maximize their reading ability,” says Ms. Wolf, who has a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a Reading Endorsement. “I believe that developing a love of reading in the early stages of life is essential in life and realize every child develops at his or her pace. I always keep this in mind when teaching and tailor my teaching to meet each child’s developmental needs.”

Ms. Wolf shared one of her most inspiring teaching experiences. “I worked for many years with struggling readers and had many great success stories! One in particular is a student I had three years ago in Florida. She struggled a great deal with reading but was very determined. By the end of first grade she was a fluent reader. We still regularly email each other! She is now in all top reading classes and has become the editor-in-chief for the school newspaper. She is so confident in herself now which makes me feel extremely proud.”

Ms. Wolf, a Maryland native, recently returned to Baltimore to get married. In addition to teaching, she is an active volunteer at The Associated, where she was recently accepted into the Dor Tikvah program. Dor Tikvah is a two-year commitment that focuses on developing female Jewish leaders in the community while giving back to the many agencies of The Associated.

Ms. Wolf has assisted in the “Writing and the Imagination” class at John’s Hopkins’ prestigious Center for Talented Youth (CTY). She was also a pilot teacher for Mind Lab training, a renowned game-based program that is designed to strengthen children’s critical thinking skills.
