Student Raffle Benefits Injured Military Personnel and Veterans
The High School's Stars and Stripes committee sponsored a raffle to win a football autographed by Baltimore Ravens Wide Receiver Steve Smith, Sr. The proceeds of the raffle will be donated to the Fisher House Foundation, which provides no-cost lodging and meals for family members of injured armed services personnel and veterans while they are receiving treatment for their injuries.
There are 65 houses in operation, located by major military installations and VA medical centers. 25,000 military families were served in 2014 alone. Since 1990, Fisher House Foundation has provided 6 Million days of lodging valued at $282 Million.
The raffle tickets, priced at 50 cents each, brought in a total of $137.00. Congratulations to the raffle winner, Sammy F. '17! The Stars and Stripes committee thanks Mrs. Schorr for drawing the winning ticket during Friday’s Assembly.
