Eighth Grade Innovations Exhibit

Eighth graders spent the past two months investigating a topic of interest to them, learning about that topic’s history and present, then making predictions about its future, in the annual Innovations Project. Students could either choose a suggested topic within the broader categories of literature, Judaic topics, science and history, or propose a topic of their own interest.

The projects explored such varied topics as archetypal literary characters, including the hero and his transformative journey and the underdog or outcast; Jewish concepts including how Ve’ahavta Le’reyacha Kamocha-- Love Your Neighbor as Yourself,” impacts our world and how “Tzelem Elokim,” or human dignity, led to the establishment of human rights; scientific developments such as nanotechnology , robotics and stem cell research; and historical progressions in communication and codified law systems, among others.

Each student created a display that outlined their topics history, present and predicted future, as well as a creative representation of their findings.
