STEM Day 2016

At this year’s STEM Day, our 8th graders led the rest of the Middle School on a scientific exploration of physics and engineering by creating parachutes with plastic bags, Newton’s Cradles with popsicle sticks, strings and beads, a windmill capable of generating enough energy to lift a cup containing pennies, a candy-launching catapult and a balloon hovercraft.

STEM Day was coordinated by Middle School Mathematics Department chair Mrs. Lisa Shamus and Mrs. Grainne Daly, the seventh and eighth grade science teacher. Mrs. Beeny Finkelstein, 5th and 6th grade science teacher and Mr. Zach Kuter, 8th grade science teacher, also created hands-on STEM activities for the STEM Day projects.
