Penn Lecture with Daniel Gordis: Israel and America … Divided We Stand
“Are we one?” Recent events indicate serious division between American Jewry and Israel. Can this be bridged? Are divisions inevitable in our approach to religion, democracy and the political situation? Beth Tfiloh alumnus Dr. Daniel Gordis, Senior Vice President at Shalem College, will address these questions at the annual Stanley Z. Penn Memorial Lecture.
Renowned author, journalist, professor and Beth Tfiloh alumnus Dr. Daniel Gordis will discuss the growing rift between the Israeli and American Jewish communities. Dr. Gordis will explain the fundamental differences in each country’s approach to issues ranging from democracy and history to religion and identity, and explore how the world’s two largest Jewish communities can heal this rift to forge a path forward, together.
