The Macks Upper School Library and Media Center, with a collection of approximately 12,000 books and 1,400 videos in both General Studies and Judaics, is at the heart of the Beth Tfiloh mission to inspire the mind and nourish the soul. The 2,000-square-foot, light-filled space offers access to our online library catalog
, databases, and eBooks
on both the middle and high school levels.
The databases provide students with full-text access to thousands of periodicals and other reference sources both in school and off campus on virtually any research topic. There are also a number of databases that are provided through the Baltimore County Public Library system which students can use to complete research assignments. Access to these public library databases is available to anyone with a Baltimore County Public Library card. (Students who reside outside of Baltimore County have access to these resources through our school library card.) The Library also has state-of-the-art computer and audiovisual equipment available to both students and faculty.
The Library offers access to a wealth of Judaic texts and commentaries online and in print. To search for Judaic subjects on the Internet, try the databases listed at the end of the section on online resources, or ask the librarian for assistance.
Our periodical and newspaper subscriptions, on both secular and Judaic subjects, are arranged on open shelves next to a reading area in the front of the library and can be checked out by both students and faculty.
The Library also has extensive print, audiovisual, and electronic resources about every aspect of the State of Israel, including digital access to a leading Israeli newspaper in English and a collection of Adult and Young Adult fiction in Hebrew.
Students visit the library for assistance on research projects, to look for books, or to study. Mrs. Shira London, the librarian, is available to assist students from 8:30 am – 2:30 pm Monday–Thursday and until 12:30 pm on Fridays. You can reach Mrs. London by email
or by phone at 410-413-2414. Mr. Jeffrey Amdur, Assistant to the Librarian, staffs the library on Monday–Thursday from 2:30-5 pm and on Fridays from 12:30-2:30 pm
We are always adding new fiction and nonfiction titles. Do you have a book in mind that you think the library should own? Please email
title suggestions to Mrs. London.
