Louis and his wife Deborah have been members of Beth Tfiloh for about 30 years and their daughters Alisa and Abigail are both graduates of the Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community High School. Louis has served as Brotherhood Donor Chairman and Brotherhood President, in addition to serving the Congregation as Assistant Vice Chair, Finance and the Vice Chair, Programming. He joined Deborah in chairing the 2012 Spotlight Sponsorship Committee and headed the 2013 Annual Combined Campaign. A member of the last three Rabbinic Search Committees, Louis also is an active participant in the Mercaz and Synagogue Life Committees, in addition to volunteering each week at Levindale and for the Dyslexia Tutoring Program.
Ron and his family have been members of BT for close to 20 years. He has served on the School Board of Trustees, the Brotherhood Board, the Security Committee, the Religious Services Committee, Shul Board and Executive Committee and has been Board Secretary, Camp Committee Chair and Vice-Chair of Facilities. He also serves the synagogue as one of the Gabbai Sheini’s. Ron and his wife Sally have two sons. Adam and Eli are both BT graduates, and Sally is past chair of the Goucher Hillel and currently on the board of Jewish Volunteer Connection.
Gary and Jill and their family have been members of Beth Tfiloh Congregation for more than 20 years. Their children, Sara, Joshua and Eric are all graduates of the Beth Dahan Community School. Gary served as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Congregation from 2009-2011, and before that as Executive Vice Chair, Vice Chair of Finance, Assistant Vice Chair of Finance, Chair of the Membership Committee, a member of numerous Board committees and as a Trustee of the School. Gary has served as a Director of ACHARAI, The Shoshana S. Cardin Leadership Development Institute, where he is Fellow from its first cohort of graduates. He also serves as a Director of The Downtown Partnership of Baltimore and holds several leadership roles with the American Bar Association’s Section of Labor and Employment Law. In his professional life, Gary is a Partner at the Baltimore office of Saul Ewing LLP, where he chairs the Labor and Employment practice.
Jeremy “Yoni” Bedine grew up in Baltimore and attended Beth Tfiloh lower school. In 2014, he returned to Baltimore with his wife Odeya, their two boys Ariel (10) and Dvir (8) and their daughter Maayan (4). In addition to being school parents, the Bedines are active members of the shul. Yoni serves the shul in a number of capacities. He is a member of the Board of Directors and has served on numerous committees including Synagogue Life, Religious Services, Strategic Planning, and Facilities. He also serves as the Gabbai of the Chapel Minyan. Yoni is the son of Joyce and Marshall Bedine who have been active members of Beth Tfiloh for over 40 years. Odeya is the daughter of of Zohara and Yechiel Avrahami of Gedera Israel, and granddaughter of 1977 Israel Prize Laureate Yaakov Avraham. When they are not roaming the halls of BT, the Bedines can be found at Baltimore School of Rock or taking family adventures down in DC. Yoni is the Founder and Managing Director of GridLion, a company that helps businesses manage energy to lower cost, reduce risk and improve their environmental performance.
Lowell is a founder of Herman, Sessa, & Dorsey, LLC, an Estates and Trusts Law Firm. For the eleven years immediately prior to that, he was the Chair of the Trusts & Estates Group at Gordon Feinblatt LLC. He has a long history of service to Beth Tfiloh. In addition to serving as President of the Congregation from 2015 to 2017, Lowell served as President of the Board of Trustees of the Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School from 2006-2009, and before that as Vice-President and as Treasurer of the school. He has served on various committees at Beth Tfiloh on behalf of both the shul and the school for over twenty-five years. In addition to his commitment to Beth Tfiloh, Lowell served as President of Comprehensive Housing Assistance, Inc. (“CHAI”), an agency of The Associated, from 1998-2000. He is currently a member of both the Board of Directors of the Associated Jewish Charities of Baltimore, and the Board of Directors of The Associated: Jewish Community Federation. Lowell’s connection to Beth Tfiloh began in 1985 with his marriage to his wife, Margie, officiated by Rabbi Wohlberg. He is the proud father of two Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School alumni, Seth (’05) and Cara (’08), each having started their education here in pre-school. Lowell is a regular participant at Shabbat services in the Dahan Sanctuary.
Fran and her husband Steve, and their family have been members of the Beth Tfiloh Congregation for over 25 years. Fran served as Board Chair after having served as Executive Vice Chair, Vice Chair of Finance and Assistant Vice Chair of Finance. She is a former Co-Chair of Mercaz and a member of the Board of Trustees for the Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School. Her past roles on the school Board include co-chairing the Strategic Planning Committee, chairing the Committee on Trustees, and serving on Affordability Task Force. Fran also served on the Center for Jewish Education (CJE) Board and is a graduate of the ACHARAI Fellows Program Class V. Her two children, Alan and Cheryl, attended the Beth Tfiloh Hebrew School and the Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School respectively. Alan, Caroline, and grandsons David and Joshua live in Arlington, Virginia, and Cheryl lives in Washington D.C. Fran’s mother Helen Silber and mother-in-law Gloria Pruce reside in Pikesville.
Ricka is a partner with PBMares, LLP, a full service public accounting firm. Prior to joining PBMares in February 2016, she was the managing partner of Neuman & Associates, LLC for over 25 years. Ricka has been a member of Beth Tfiloh for almost 30 years, becoming active in 2002. She has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2006, serving as Executive Vice-Chair from 2015-2017, Vice-Chair of Development 2016-2017, Assistant Vice Chair and Vice Chair of Finance from 2011-2015, co-chaired the Chazak Campaign Financial Oversight Committee, and chaired the Legacy Giving Committee. Ricka also volunteers with the Maryland Association of CPA’s, serves as the chair of The Associated’s Planned Giving Roundtable Steering Committee from 2014-2017, sits on the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center Advisory Board and the board of the Baltimore Estate Planning Council. She has previously served on various boards and in officer positions with the Baltimore Chapter of the Financial Planning Association, Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s Planned Giving Advisory Council, Chesapeake Center for Youth Development, University of Baltimore Alumni Association and the Women’s Law Center.
Louis has been active in the Beth Tfiloh community for over 20 years. He most recently served as Assistant Vice Chair of Finance. He previously served as Secretary and as Vice Chair, Property and Facilities for the congregation’s Board of Directors. He served numerous years on the Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School Board of Trustees and was the Treasurer for the school for the 2012-2013 school year. He was past Chair of Beth Tfiloh’s Combined Campaign and was a previous Co-Chair of the Spotlight scholarship event for the Beth Tfiloh School. Louis and his wife Stacy have three children who are Beth Tfiloh school alumni, and one child currently attending Beth Tfiloh in the 8th grade. He was past President of Jews for Judaism.
Neil and his family have been members of Beth Tfiloh since 2004. He most recently served as Secretary of the Board. Neil and his wife Sherri live in Pikesville and have two children. Rachel, a 2013 BT graduate who is currently a senior at UMD, College Park, and Ryan, who is a member of BT’s 2017 graduating class.
Arnie and his wife Dorathy are former members of Beth Jacob congregation where he served as Brotherhood President followed by Chairman of the Congregation Board and President of the Congregation. Currently he is one of the co-chairs of Spotlight 2017.
Melissa and her husband, Adam have been members of Beth Tfiloh for more than 25 years. Their children, Emily and Lauren, are both graduates of Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School. Melissa has served on the School Board of Trustees as Treasurer and Chair of the Finance Committtee , Chair of the Upper School Committee, Co-Chair of the Annual Campaign and various Spotlight Committees.
Amy is President and Founder of Rotenberg Associates LLC, a strategic communications firm assisting clients with reputation management, media relations and critical issues at the intersection of law and media. Along with her husband Mark and teenage son Max, Amy moved to Baltimore in 2013 when Mark was serving as Johns Hopkins University’s Vice President & General Counsel. The family immediately joined Beth Tfiloh and continues to be regulars for Shabbat morning services, with Max an active member of the Teen Minyan during his high school years. Amy currently serves on AIPAC’s National Council and the AIPAC Baltimore Leadership Council. She also serves on the Boards of the Associated and the Girls Empowerment Mission (GEM) and recently completed her service on the Johns Hopkins Hillel Board. Amy and Mark also have two adult children, Mathew and Ariella, living in New York.
Shelley and her husband, Bobby, have been members of BT for over 30 years. She initially served on the Hebrew school board, and later served multiple terms on the Synagogue Board and the Religious Services Committee. Over the years she has celebrated numerous family simchas with Beth Tfiloh. She is the lay co-chair of Mercaz Adult Education, chaired this year’s Torah Quest, and has planned our Tikun Leil Shavuot dinners for over 10 years. Shelley has worked on Spotlight for the past 5 years, and she and Bobby co-chaired Spotlight in 2014. Their grandchildren currently attend the Beth Jacob Hebrew School at Beth Tfiloh.
Michael, along with his wife Rivka (who is a Beth Tfiloh alum and a faculty member and a staff member at BTcamp), have been active at Beth Tfiloh since joining in 2010. They have two sons, Yoni (grade 5) and Ami (grade 2), who have both attended BT School and Camp since they were two years old. Michael currently serves on the Congregation’s Strategic Plan Implementation Oversight Committee, specializing in organizational change management and process re-engineering. He also serves on the Brotherhood Board and Spotlight Committee, as well as being a member of the Mercaz Fellows Program. When he is not volunteering his time at BT, Michael leads Global Portfolio Services at Agora Publishing Company, owns Broadheights, an executive leadership and consulting firm and is on the board of Wellwood Little League Baseball.
