Team BT Runs Shalva Marathon in Israel

By Rabbi Mordechai Soskil, High School Director of Judaic Studies

Shalva is a wonderful organization in Jerusalem that provides a wide variety of services to children with special needs and their families, free of charge. A group of our juniors and sophomores raised a considerable amount of money for Shalva in order to participate as members of Team Shalva in this year’s Jerusalem Marathon. Most of the students and I are running the half marathon and one of us is running in the 10k.

During Shabbat all of the schools participating in Team Shalva will be together for a Shabbaton filled with music, Torah and sports-related words of inspiration. During the little bit of free time that we have, we’ll be able to go to the Kotel and walk around in the Old City and we should have some time to do some shopping on Ben Yehudah street. All told, we’ll only be in Israel for three days, so it’s quite a full itinerary.

The students participating this year are Jonathan A. ’19, Sage F. ’19, Meira K. ’19, Abigail L. ’18, Hannah M. '19, Yael M. ’18, Olivia P. ’18 and Zach V. ’19.
