The BT Warriors topped Cristo Rey 6-0 in Boys Varsity Soccer. Cristo Rey made a lively start and nearly caught the Warriors out in the early going, but the BT defense was up to the challenge. Ofir S. '21 broke the deadlock with a great finish from a difficult angle that clipped the inside of the post and found the back of the net thanks to a fine through ball from Tamir K. '20. The second goal was a well-worked family affair as Scott T. '18 was able to pick out his brother Justin T. '19 with a fine high cross where the latter calmly headed home for the 2-0 lead. Minutes later Scott turned provider again, this time finding Justin with a long ball over the top that the Junior controlled and took past the keeper to make the score 3-0. To close out the first half Eitan M. '19 won a loose ball near the top of the box with his excellent high pressure defending and finished cooly past the keeper to make the halftime score 4-0.
In the second half, Scott T. '18 added to his pair of assists with a goal of his own, intercepting a Cristo Rey clearance and putting it past the keeper at the near post all in one touch with a fine left-footed volley to make it 5-0. Ofir S. '21 then added a second goal by hunting down a loose ball and poking it under the keeper to make the score 6-0. From there BT focused on protecting the shutout and did just that. Jared H. '18 picked up the shutout win in the goal and the whole team deserves credit for a fine performance.
The win makes the Boys Varsity Soccer team unbeaten in its past 4 matches and bring its league record to 4 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw, currently good for 3rd place in the "C" Conference Black Division. Next, the Warriors travel to Red Division leaders Mt. Carmel on Tuesday 10/3. Don't miss the Warriors in an upcoming 3 game homestand.
