Students work with internship mentors who are experts in their chosen field and volunteer their time to give our students a worthwhile, exciting and educational view of their career. The career opportunities are wide and varied. This year students interned at Johns Hopkins, BT Lower School, University of Maryland Shock Trauma, Maryland Public Television, Maryland Science Center, Chai Lifeline, Masada Tactical, Jewish Community Services and Senator Ben Cardin’s office – just to name a few.
“It gave me a very clear picture of what being a trauma doctor/nurse is like. I have learned what it is like to work in a hospital setting” commented Jasmine H. ’18, who interned at the University of Maryland’s
R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center.
“As someone who wants to pursue a career working with children with mental disabilities, being able to intern in a preschool that is open for all children helped me grow and learn with hands on experiences,” shared Hana A. ’18, who interned at the
Gates of Discovery Preschool in Silver Spring. “Throughout this experience I have learned so many helpful skills and techniques that…will help me in my future.”
Jacob B. ’18 spent his time in Morah Cusner’s
BT Lower School classroom, where he got a preview of a career in education. “The internship allowed me to work with students on a more professional level,” compared to his previous camp counselor experiences.
“I was very grateful to have Morah Cusner, who referred to me as a teacher, thereby helping the students view me as a teacher, as well,” Jacob adds.
Andrew K. ’18 says of his
WBH Advisory, Inc. internship, “I learned a lot about what a financial advisor does throughout the week and their daily tasks. I liked seeing my supervisor talk to clients and deal with different financial situations.”
The internship mentors’ overwhelmingly positive feedback conveyed how our seniors represent the Beth Tfiloh community by demonstrating the values, work ethic and eagerness to learn that are the hallmark of BT students:
“Rebecca F. ‘18 has been an outstanding student intern. We are planning to attend a Parkinson's symposium for her last day and I am excited to continue to watch her grow into her planned career field.” –Leah Zinnert, PT, DPT, CSCS, LSVT BIG Certified Clinician,
