Dr. Ryan Sochol '01 is an assistant professor of mechanical engineering with the Fischell Department of Bioengineering at the University of Maryland, College Park. He came back to BT and spoke with Mrs. Racheli Daniel's 11th grade AP Physics and AP Bio classes.
Dr. Sochol discussed current advances and technique to utilize state-of-the-art nanoscale 3D printing approaches to solve complex engineering concerns focused on biomedical applications. He presented on his work in the BAM (Bioinspired Advanced Manufacturing) Lab at UMD as well facilitated a Q and A with our 11th graders.
When asked to share his thoughts on his time at Beth Tfiloh, Ryan said, "I think in a different environment at a different school, it's unlikely I would have ended up where I am today. The most important was probably BT embracing creativity, and allowing me the kind of freedom that cultivated my own enthusiasm for learning and advancing science."
