The Dedication of the newly renovated Beth Tfiloh "Dahan Sanctuary" took place on Tuesday, October 9th. Over 400 people attended to pay tribute to Mr. and Mrs. Haron Dahan, in whose name the Sanctuary was dedicated.
The keynote speakers for the historic event included Rabbi Israel Moshe Lau, former Chief Rabbi of Israel and current Chief Rabbi of Tel Aviv, Professor Moshe Kaveh, President of Bar Ilan University, and Rabbi Mitchell Wohlberg, Rabbi of Beth Tfiloh Congregation.
Hazan Avi Albrecht gave a world class performance of several musical arrangements accompanied by the New York Synagogue Choir.
Rabbi Mitchell Wohlberg referred to Mr. Haron Dahan as "a true mentsch with a heart of gold" and "the largest benefactor in the history of Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community School and Beth Tfiloh Synagogue".
Mr. Dahan called Beth Tfiloh "one of my best investments." He described his formative years serving in the Irgun and as a captain in the Israeli Tank Corps. He concluded his remarks by stating that "Jewish education is the only way to eliminate assimilation, increase our unity and insure our continuity."
The program, which lasted 1 hour and 45 minutes, was followed by a Gala Dessert Reception.
