America Ate for Israel!

This past Tuesday, on May 1st, supporters from across the Greater Baltimore Jewish Community flocked to kosher restaurants to participate in this year’s America Eats for Israel program. For those who haven’t noticed the plethora of posters hanging in restaurant windows for the past few weeks, America Eats for Israel is a non-profit program in which kosher restaurants from across the U.S. and Canada volunteer to donate 10% of their proceeds from one day of business to Meir Panim, a poverty relief organization in Israel.

With nearly all kosher restaurants participating, Baltimore’s contribution was by far the largest in the country. Other cities included: New York, Los Angeles, and this year’s newest addition, Toronto. When asked about some of the differences between this year’s program and those in previous years, Beth Tfiloh student and AE4I co-head, Noah Abramowitz, replied, “Our biggest change this year was most definitely the clientele we were able to reach. Now that Beth Tfiloh has generously taken the program under its wing, an entire new branch of the community has been involved in the effort.” We, on the America Eats for Israel committee, would like to thank everyone who took time out of their busy Tuesday to eat out and, in doing so, support the incredibly important work of Meir Panim.
