Exploring Fall Through Our Five Senses

Mrs. Elise Harrison
Mrs. Harrison's kindergarten class went on a fall scavenger hunt walk! This fun adventure encouraged students to explore the world around them using all five senses. They used their eyes to see the colorful leaves, ears to hear the sounds of fall, noses to smell the fresh autumn air, hands to feel different textures, and even taste buds to think about the yummy flavors of fall. Along the way, they practiced important executive functioning skills, including observation, attention to detail, and recording information. Sensory exploration helps young learners make meaningful connections to the world around them, while executive functioning skills build the foundation for problem-solving, organization, and independent learning. Through hands-on experiences like these, our kindergarten students are developing essential skills that will help them thrive in the classroom and beyond.
