May 9: Hiking

Shalom to the Parents and Friends of the Wonderful Class of 2017,

It is 2 in the morning on Monday night into Tuesday, May 9, now. I just got off the phone with Cherie and it seems that the group had a wonderful night. They got up in good spirits and they started their day on time. They should be finished their hiking about now or at about 10 in the morning and they arrived at Ein Akev, preserve with a natural pool, they had safari vehicles to take them to Sde Boker (Look it up, it is a really historic kibbutz). They will be there by 11. When it is supposed to be too hot to continue hiking, they will go to Mitzpei Ramon, (and see the Ramon Crater – look that up too!) and they will have lunch, rest, and then do a late afternoon hike when it cools down.

For those few kids that were not feeling well, we booked a few rooms in a hostel so kids who are not ready to join the group or want to join the group later are able to rest. Medications that needed to be filled were done this morning. Those kids that can’t participate in the hiking or just need some rest will join up with the group a little later. The students seem to love the hiking (I’m not quite sure why) and really want to want to be part of the group. We are taking care of all the kids. There aren’t that many who are sick but those that need some medication or a little bit of TLC are getting it.

The kids are having a marvelous time. Cherie tells me they have been incredibly, incredibly cooperative.

Have a good night and a good day. We will continue to keep you posted.
