Proud Warriors

The BT girls started the first half with much enthusiasm and excitement towards officially kicking off their season. With an unfortunate call on an unlucky handball in the box, Mt. Carmel gratefully finished the awarded penalty kick to put them up 1-0. Strong defensive play from the BT girls held the score at 1-0 for the remainder of the first half. With a little tweaking of tactics and more concentration on technique the BT girls came out second half with something to prove. They confidently dominated the the second forty minutes maintaining possession and creating numerous scoring opportunities. An awarded free kick 10 yards outside the penalty area was an opportunity for Sam Balakirsky to show all in attendance what she's got, as she struck the ball over the head of the keeper off the post and into the net. Tie 1-1. Regular time came to an end leading both teams into sudden death overtime. Only two minutes in and the Mt. Carmel Cougars were awarded another penalty kick. With a great shot they took the win from BT leaving the Warriors a little confused and frustrated at what had been taken from them. All in all a well fought game, unlucky result, but the Warriors left the field feeling good about their performance.
