We welcome our new BT Community Educator

Rabbanit Jaffe is a recent graduate of Yeshivat Maharat and has interned at Modern Orthodox synagogues in New York and Houston, where she made significant contributions to Jewish life and learning for adults and youth, and provided pastoral care to congregants. She has been a featured speaker at JOFA (Jewish Orthodox Feminist Alliance) conferences and at various synagogues in the U.S. and Canada.

With the growing options for Jewish textual study and expanding leadership roles of women in the Modern Orthodox world, the term “Rabbanit” has come into use to show respect to an Orthodox Jewish woman who has completed a rigorous program of Torah study, and who can serve as a role model for what it means to be a learned, committed Jewish woman.

In her role as Beth Tfiloh Community Educator, Rabbinit Jaffe will give Divrei Torah as part of our daily and Shabbat services, teach classes in our congregation’s Mercaz Dahan Adult Education program and in our High School, and lead a new Rosh Chodesh class for women and other focused learning groups. She will also prepare our Bat Mitzvah girls, teach Torah leyning (cantillation) to our Middle and High School girls, lead women’s tefilot, and provide outreach to kallahs (brides). Rabbinit Jaffe has received certification as a life coach and will be available for hospital and shiva visits and to provide pastoral and spiritual care to members dealing with challenges.

We welcome Rabbanit Jaffe to the Beth Tfiloh family.
