May 3 – Camping out in the Negev

Micah W. ‘23
Last night, we built tents in groups and then cooked dinner together in teams. I manned the burger and hot dog station which was a hilarious time and a great bonding experience. After that, we ate and then hung out at the campsite. We had a beautiful singalong by a campfire around midnight and could even see some shooting stars.

This morning we woke up and davened, hopped on the bus and made our way to repelling. That was a scary experience at first, but turned out to be very fun once you got started. (With all that anticipation and nothing really to fear in the end, you could call repelling “anti-climbactic” — two jokes in one there). We visited Ben Gurion’s house in the Negev, but then we went on an amazing hike, which pushed everyone to their physical limits. When we reached the top, the view justified the hard work.
