The Emergent Curriculum

Our developmentally-appropriate Emergent Curriculum, inspired by the world-renowned Reggio Emilia schools, challenges children to think and take initiative in both academic and social situations. Children are encouraged to use freedom of expression and to develop their intellect and vocabulary to problem solve as they learn about themselves, others and the world around them. Our program fosters a love for our Jewish heritage and traditions and lays the foundation for a positive Jewish identity.

The PreSchool curriculum is interwoven with a rich variety of Judaic and secular units that includes:
  • Jewish holidays
  • American holidays
  • Physical education
  • Music education
  • Early literacy development
  • Language arts
  • Hands-on math
  • Hebrew language
  • Field trips
  • Cooking instruction
  • Art class
  • Science class
Beth Tfiloh PreSchool is accredited by the State of Maryland, and has been awarded special recognition as a Maryland EXCELS school. Beth Tfiloh PreSchool is accredited by the Association of Independent Maryland Schools (AIMS) and Middle States Association of College and Schools, and affiliated with the Center for Jewish Education (CJE).
