An article in the Baltimore Jewish Times, noted that, "Daniel Siegel taught martial arts. He excelled in his studies at Krieger Schechter Day School, Beth Tfiloh Dahan Community Day School and later at Yale University. He knew how to make friends easily, show kindness to those around him, and die with grace and dignity."
The obituary appearing in the Baltimore Sun, included the following:
Beth Tfiloh director of guidance Jean Ginsberg of Baltimore, who wrote Mr. Siegel's recommendation to Yale, said she visited him at this home about 10 days ago. "I was telling him that he really made a mark, that there wasn't a teacher who had him in a classroom who wouldn't remember him forever. And he could barely get a word out, but he said, 'Thank you, that means so much to me.' He was just sheer goodness."
Speakers at the funeral service included Dr. Paul Schneider, Headmaster of Kreiger Schechter Day School, and Alex Greenberg '07.
A separate Memorial Service was held in the Beth Tfiloh Epstein Chapel, with teachers and students in attendance. A number of teachers recalled the impact that Daniel had on them. "He always made me feel like my class was his favorite," recalled Mrs. Barbara Rothstein.
Daniel is survived by his sister, Leigh Siegel '05 and his parents, Janet Berg and Dr. Everett Siegel.
