May 10, Second Day in the Desert

Shalom to Parents and Friends of the Wonderful Class of 2017,

It is Tuesday night going into Wednesday, May 10, at 1:30 a.m. and our kids are going into their second day in the desert. Please be aware of the fact that those kids who cannot make today’s hikes, either by illness or by choice, are certainly not encouraged to do that and in fact are supported in their decision by us and are going to a youth hostel to rest and stay indoors. We did move the class a couple of times primarily because of the heat. There actually are 2 reasons that our tour guides are under instructions to move: one is the heat; and the other is that there are very strict rules about upsetting nature. There are times and areas in which our group cannot hike in order not to upset the balance of nature. So obviously there are rules that are more important than our choice. In any case, our kids seem to be enjoying the desert experience. It is an opportunity to spend time outside communing with nature, hiking and really bonding together as a group.

Once again let me emphasize that the fact if there are any issues as far as health is concerned, we are very careful to address them. We have had a doctor out to the hostel I would say 3 times in the last couple of days. Nothing serious, but we take care of every detail of their physical needs.

If you have any questions or any concerns, do not hesitate to call. It looks as though everybody is healing and on the upswing.   There was a stomach virus that was going around. I think it is pretty well contained by now and the kids are continuing on their journey of a lifetime.

Have a wonderful day. We will continue to keep you posted.

Stay well,

Zipora Schorr
