Warriors Spring Season Recap

MIDDLE SCHOOL

The Girls Middle School Lacrosse team has had an excellent season. Finishing with a record of 5 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie, BT boasted a large squad with many strong 8th graders as well as some strong up and coming youngsters. Highlights of the season were exciting wins over Calvert School (10-9) and Gerstell Academy (12-5) as well as a high-scoring tie with Park (11-11). Way to go Warriors!

The Girls Middle School Softball “A” team played some outstanding ball this year despite recording just one win. It was a very special win though as the team no-hit Krieger Schechter in an 18-0 victory. The team also played quite well in tough losses against St. Paul’s (7-6), Park (6-4), and Roland Park Country School (9-8). BT also featured a Girls MS Softball “B” team for the first time this year. The team played two interscholastic games and also played the “A” team in a pair of scrimmages. Despite a number of excellent 8th graders moving up next year, hopes for the “A” team are high with many talented 6th and 7th graders ready to take the field!

The Boys Middle School Baseball team still has one game to play. It’s been a tale of two seasons thus far as the squad dropped its first three games but is on a three game winning streak since! After losing its first game of the year to Friends School, BT bounced back for a 14-7 win in the rematch and has also defeated St. Paul’s (5-3) and Park (18-2). With one game to go we will all be rooting for an exciting conclusion to the season and a winning record.

The Boys Middle School Lacrosse team has three games to go but is having a fantastic season thus far with 4 wins out of 5 games. Thanks to some late heroics BT has won close encounters against Mt. Carmel (4-2) and Key School (3-2) in addition to a big win over St. Ignatius (14-2). The team has played great defense all year and is improving on offense every game. Good luck in the last 3 games!

HIGH SCHOOL

The Boys & Girls Varsity Track teams had a challenging season, missing one meet due to Pesach and another due to a rain cancellation. Still, in two meets BT worked hard and set a number of personal bests in the conference championship meet to close out the season. Congratulations to all the track athletes! Click here for more details about the team’s performance in the final meet.

The Boys Varsity Golf team has a playoff match coming up against “C” Conference powerhouse Friends School after finishing the regular season with a 1-2-1 record and a tie for 3rd place. BT defeated Pallotti 12-9 for their lone win and eked out a 10.5-10.5 tie with Mt. Carmel to close the regular season. Against top seeded Friends BT fell just 12-9, so hopes are high for a playoffs upset!

The Boys Varsity Tennis team finished with a 4-3 record, good for a 4th place finish in the MIAA “B” Conference. The Warriors were upset by Park School in the first round of the playoffs but are eager to take the court in next week’s individual tournament. The team picked up wins over John Carroll (3-2), Archbishop Spalding (3-2), Park School (4-1), and Glenelg Country School (4-1) en route to their winning league record.

The Boys JV Tennis team, which competes in the challenging “A” Conference JV league, finished with a very solid 4-5 record. While the team did not qualify for the championship round, they won a 3-2 thriller over St. Mary’s and also recorded solid wins over Friends, St. Paul’s, and Mt. St. Joseph by 4-1 counts. The future looks bright for BT tennis, and we wish all the JV players competing in next week’s individual tournament the best of luck.

The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team earned a home playoff game thanks to a 4th place finish in the IAAM “C” Conference Gold Divison. Despite missing their Seniors who were already on their trip to Poland, the Warriors topped Oldfields 18-12 to advance to round 2. Unfortunately top-seed Catholic got the better of BT in the next round to end the season at the quarterfinal stage. In addition to defeating Oldfields in the playoffs, BT also picked up regular season wins over Mt. Carmel (6-3), Oldfields (12-8), and Chapelgate (13-8). The girls played very hard all season in a tough league.

The Boys Varsity Lacrosse team is continuing a 4th consecutive outstanding season. Having gone to the MIAA “C” Conference title game three seasons in a row, expectations for the Warriors were high coming in, and thus far the team has not disappointed. The team is currently 8-1, good for first place in the Black Division. With two league games to go, the Warriors are poised to host a semifinal match in a bid to return to the title game yet again. The biggest win so far has been a 12-8 victory over otherwise unbeaten Key School, and the team also played excellent lacrosse in an 8-5 win over defending champion St. Vincent Pallotti and a 16-8 non-league win over local rival Pikesville High. Go Warriors!

The Girls Varsity Softball team endured a challenging season but saved one of their best performances for their last regular season game. BT and Oldfields traded runs throughout the game in a high scoring affair, and despite playing so well the Warriors ultimately fell in the final inning, 15-13. In the playoffs BT fell to Mt. Carmel. Everyone kept their spirits up and worked hard to improve, and we look forward to seeing the softball team back on the field next Spring.

The Boys Varsity Baseball team was very competitive this year in the MIAA “C” Conference. As strong as the conference was, the biggest opponent this season was the rain, which forced BT to play 7 games over the final 10 days of the campaign. Despite such adversity, BT finished with a 6-10 record, missing the playoffs by the narrowest of margins with a 7th place finish. BT swept the season series against both Chapelgate and St. Frances and also picked up wins against Indian Creek and Key School. The Warriors displayed great team spirit in finishing up the season with so many games in a short period while missing their outstanding seniors.

Congratulations to all of our spring teams!
