May 12: Bike Ride and Reunion

Shalom to Parents and Friends of the Wonderful Class of 2017,

It is now 1:00 in the morning which means it is already May 12. Our kids had a wonderful day on the 11th, which was Thursday. There have been quite a number of stomach viruses, and various aches and pains and ailments. Interestingly, we have bumped into a number of other tours who say they are experiencing the same thing. The good news is, as I mentioned earlier, that we did bring in an Anglo doctor who has cleared most of our kids and in fact, as you will hear a little bit later, when our kids went to dinner and attended the reunion just about everybody made it. Although it was optional, they all were there.

So let me begin with the activities on Thursday. The kids went to Holon, to the Museum for the Deaf and Blind. As I mentioned yesterday, they then did some really important chesed work at the Rehab Center, Save a Child’s Heart. Then they had a choice between a culinary tour and a bike tour, two groups went in different directions. Then they came back together at the hotel and got ready for dinner and the (BT Alumni) reunion. They had a beautiful dinner. They actually went to the new tachana, the new train station, that has just been remodelled. It had a gorgeous view of Tel Aviv. There were about 30 alum who joined them including Rabbi Singer, who was a former rabbi of Beth Tfiloh, former shalechim, and b’not cheirut. They had a marvelous time and they were all excited to see one another.

By now they are all ready to go on their host Shabbatot. Most of them are recovered. Those who haven’t, will hopefully manage to lose the bug in whatever homes they are in. We hope they won’t infect anyone else! We think they will all be okay.

There is a drop-off at 8:30 a.m. for the Jerusalem folks to pick up their kids. Then we have stops at various other locations in Israel where our kid are going. All of the hosts have been called and will be picking up the kids at the approporate places. We hope that all of our kids will have a wondeful shabbat at their various hosts. We hope we will be able to report to all of you that when they come together again they will all be well and continue to stay well..

Shabbat shalom to each and everyone of you. Stay well and stay in touch.
